YAY!!!

Sorry it took so long to get another post up but I HAVE FINISHED!!! I don't have a photo of the board but I got 3rd place!!! Any way myhypothosis was that I think some states would grow flowers better than others. And I was right! New Hampshire had the tallest sprout (8 cm.). Also Kansas and Miracle Grow had the most spouts (7 spouts).
I will get a picture of the board and post it!!!

Thanks for helping!!!

Project Update

Hi,

It's me Dylan, I just wanted you to know about our progress, we have planted 2 groups of seeds into soil from around the United States of America, we are using Pansey seeds for the project. We have planted Pansey seeds because when I was reasearching flowers we found that Panseys are very easy to grow. They also reqire little sunlight, still we give them planty of it.

We have planted groups 1 and 2, we have also just planted group 3. I have named them groups 1, 2, and 3 because they were planted at different times, we are letting them have four weeks of growing. We have some sprouts from groups 1 and 2. Group 3 only has one sprout but that's it so I didn't put that one in the blog post. Here are the pictures of both groups 1 and 2.

Group 1

Group 2

I have observed one major thing, the soil types have  VERY different colors. Also there are lots of different textures, and consistency, i.e. Clay-like, sandy, and rocky. One soil sample was very smelly. This is why I think some states WILL grow flowers better then others, and you can see for yourself how different the types of soil look. Leave a comment on what you think about the soil types. Anyway I have also noticed that almost all of the soil samples have sprouted.

Thanks for stopping by,

What we are doing.

So, we (me, my Mom and Dad) are going to see what state has the best soil (not Miracle Grow although it will take the place of the perfect soil) in all the fifty states plus The District of Columbia.
What we will need to do this, one: we will need a lot of pots. Two: half a up of dirt from every state and The District of Columbia. Three: Miracle Grow (for the perfect soil spot). Four: water. And five: patience.

 Detailed plan:
  1. Get dirt from every state plus The District of Columbia. To get the dirt we will be contacting family and friends to give use a half cup of un-MODIFIED dirt. In the remaining states we will try to contact County Extension Offices.
  2. I ,myself, will research easy to grow flowers in all types of soil.
  3. We will research what soil is best for growing flowers.
  4. We will research/buy soil testing kits for each states soil plus The District of Columbia.
  5. Put dirt in 52 cups (all the states, plus The District of Columbia ,and Miracle Grow).
  6. Weigh the cup w/ dirt and make sure the cups have the same weight.
  7. Plant the seeds.
  8. Wait for the seeds to germinate and  water them every three days.
  9. weigh each cup w/ dirt and now flower and see witch has the most weight.

Thanks,
             Dylan
